I wasn't bothered by the crappy cam and the slow shutter speed at all. in fact I love the limitations because suddenly it's no more about megapixels, but about the story behind the shot.

in my case my iphoneography work also introduced me to a lot of cool & creative heads (like valerie) from all over the world.

at the end I think the key is whether you can translate your vision into something, that enables others to take part in the story you want to tell.

Re: Light Your World in review and Photowalk 3

That Sounds interesting, I agree with you. Please keep at your good work, I would come back often.

Re: Turning Tides of Creativity – Back To The Soul of Photography

I have had rumblings in my mind over how to achieve such creativeness. The best way for me to do this personally and have started doing so is to do the photo walks, driving around, etc without the actual use of a camera. So in other words Picture the Picture, you may think yes, this is what we all do as photogs but doing it without carrying the camera at times keeps 'the mind working'. Apart from trying to follow the latest and greatest, I think we get so bogged down by looking through the viewer, we loose what the big picture is all about. May seem odd in words but in mind it works out.... :p

Re: Turning Tides of Creativity – Back To The Soul of Photography

I agree; I have been on that 'I need this tool before I can do that' ride myself.. but in the end it all comes down to the photographer, not the equipment and I'm glad I realized that!
Wrote a blog post about all that a while ago, too. The pictures you took really caught the mood and the vibe of that place. This goes to show that rock&roll will never die. I also found Jack Conqeroo on youtube and he's quite something. He seems to live for this kind of music.
___________
Paramore t-Shirts

Re: Taipei Photo School

SD, group cost is per group, not per person. As an example, 5 people in a group for one hour would be $500 each.

Re: Taipei Photo School

Hmmm - I guess I'm not reading this correctly, but why is the one-on-one cheaper than the group session? I'm going to try this over the weekend. I'm interested to see my results. I haven't shot film since my newspaper days. I wouldn't want to go back to that, but it might be fun to play with. All my film bodies are still in Canada.

Re: Simply Food

Thanks Naomi, glad you liked them. To me, there's no real difference between a carefully exposed shot on film or on digital - honestly if you put two prints in front of me I probably couldn't tell the difference between which was film and which digital.

Re: Back To Basics – An Exercise in Simplicity and Gaffers Tape

That's an interesting idea, and you hit the right spot for me - I also 'play' with the idea to go "film", only in my case, I won't settle for black ribbon, I want the real deal :)
Digital frames just lack that... soul?... film results got.

Re: Dragon Boat Festival

Very beautiful: I am surprised to see all this creativity and my guess is that such an event could also directed as a boat donation charity event. I haven't shot film in years - I don't have the time, patience or money to have everything drum-scanned. Particularly for editorial clients who are increasingly only accepting digital submission, 35mm film would just create a lot of extra work for myself.
