    Thanks Carrie. I'm not sure why it's there - it's either fairly new or very recently restored. 2km or so further south used to be a big Shinto Shrine but whether this is connected to the ruins is something I'm unsure about.

    It's very rare to hear Japanese these days unless they're tourists. But many people learn Japanese hear in classes at language school.

    BTW, doesn't "torah" refer to sacred Jewish writings? :)

    Thanks. This was along the bike path near the main harbour - just south of the fishing harbour.
